About this in-hand salary calculator
A CTC of ₹12 lakh does not mean ₹1 lakh a month in your account. Employer PF, gratuity, professional tax and income tax all come out first — and the gap surprises most candidates when the first payslip arrives. This calculator shows you the real number before you accept the offer.
Enter your annual CTC, pick your city type and your basic salary percentage, and you will see the full monthly breakdown: gross pay, every deduction, and what actually lands in your bank account. It uses the new income tax regime slabs for FY 2025-26 with the ₹75,000 standard deduction and the Section 87A rebate.
How to use it
- 1
Enter your annual CTC
Use the fixed CTC from your offer letter. If your package includes a variable bonus, enter the fixed portion — bonuses are not part of your monthly salary.
- 2
Choose city type and basic percentage
Metro cities allow a higher HRA exemption. Most Indian employers set basic at 40–50% of CTC; check your offer letter and match it for an accurate result.
- 3
Read the breakdown
Compare gross monthly pay against the deductions, then check the final in-hand figure against your actual payslip.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between CTC and in-hand salary?
CTC is the total cost to the company, including employer PF and gratuity — money you never see monthly. In-hand salary is CTC minus those contributions, minus your own PF and professional tax, minus income tax.
How is PF calculated on salary?
Both you and your employer contribute 12% of your basic salary. If your basic exceeds ₹15,000 a month, the contribution is usually capped at 12% of ₹15,000 — ₹1,800 — unless your employer opts for uncapped PF.
Which income tax regime does this use?
The new regime, using FY 2025-26 slabs, a ₹75,000 standard deduction, and the Section 87A rebate that makes taxable income up to ₹12 lakh effectively tax-free.
Is professional tax the same everywhere in India?
No. Professional tax is levied by the state, so the amount and even whether it applies varies. Several states charge nothing at all.
